The universities in Ebonyi State are four. One is owned by the private sector while the state government has two and the federal government has only one.

• Evangel University, Akaeze (located at Abakaliki Km 48 Enugu Okpoto in Ebonyi State, Nigeria and established in 2012)

Federal.

• Alex Ekwueme University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State(AE-FUNAI)(located at Ikwo in Ebonyi State, Nigeria and established in 2011).

• King David Umahi University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, Ebony State
